Around the year 1940 the firm selected and imported a small parcel of butts containing cane rum of the highest purity from a small rum distillery in Cuba owned by a client to whom the firm supplied Sherry butts. On their arrival in Jerez these butts of rum were formed into a solera which supplied very old rum for family consumption. Their Ron Viejo has an average age of 20 years and has been aged in butts, many over 100 years old, which previously contained Oloroso from Valdespino's oldest soleras.
